A vibrant taste of Thailand has arrived in the metro as the Thai SELECT Festival 2026 officially opened at the Grand Atrium of Shangri-La Plaza, offering Filipinos a colorful showcase of Thai cuisine and culture.
Running from March 28 to 29, the two-day festival transforms the mall’s central atrium into a lively hub celebrating Thailand’s rich culinary traditions and artistic heritage. Organized by the Department of International Trade Promotion through the Thai Trade Center in Manila, the event gathers Thai SELECT-certified restaurants and cultural performers to provide an immersive experience for visitors.
The opening ceremony welcomed diplomats, partners, and members of the media, highlighting the role of food in strengthening cultural ties. Thai officials Sutinee Vathana and Makawadee Sumitmor emphasized that cuisine continues to serve as a powerful bridge connecting Thailand and the Philippines.
“Food is more than taste—it tells a shared story that brings communities together,” the officials said, underscoring the enduring friendship between the two nations.
At the heart of the festival is the Thai SELECT certification, a prestigious mark granted to restaurants that maintain authentic Thai flavors, high-quality ingredients, and traditional hospitality. Visitors can sample dishes from well-known Thai restaurants in Manila, including Benjarong Manila, Greyhound Café, Mango Tree, Moo Baan Krung Thai, Nara Thai Cuisine, and Thai BBQ Original Restaurant.
Beyond the food stalls, the festival offers cultural attractions that showcase Thailand’s artistry. Guests can watch live cooking demonstrations that highlight both traditional techniques and modern interpretations of Thai cuisine. Meanwhile, fruit and vegetable carving demonstrations by the Royal Thai Embassy in Manila present a centuries-old craft known for its intricate designs and precision.
The festival embodies the Thai concept of “sanook,” a spirit of joy and celebration that encourages visitors to experience Thailand beyond its flavors.
With its mix of authentic dishes, culinary demonstrations, and cultural artistry, the Thai SELECT Festival 2026 provides a flavorful glimpse into Thailand’s rich heritage—right in the heart of Metro Manila.
