It’s back to the 9,000 level in terms of the number of new COVID-19 cases in the country according to the Department of Health (DOH).
In COVID-19 Case Bulletin number 406, the number of new COVID-19 cases went up closer to 1 million, or an overall total of 989,380, with an additional 9,661 new cases added today.
However, the high number of recoveries somewhat brought a sense of good news a total of 22,877 new recoveries from COVID-19, which brings total recoveries to 883,221 overall.
Also a bit of good news is the recorded low number of COVID-19 active cases that fell below the 100,000-mark, registered at 89,485 active cases today.
Mild cases were at 95.9 percent while 1.4 percent are asymptomatic.
An additional 145 deaths was also recorded today to bring the total COVID-19 related deaths to 16,674.
The DOH also noted that 21 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 12 are recoveries.
Moreover, 56 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
One laboratory was not operational on April 22, 2021 while Five laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).
