COVID-19 update: Active cases continue downward trend

The number of active cases of COVID-19 infections continue on a downward trend with only 59,897 cases recorded today, according to the latest case bulletin of the Department of Health (DOH) released today.

The DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin # 422 also said there were 6,846 new COVID-19 infections today, which brings the total count to 1,108,826 infections since the pandemic started.

Meanwhile, 8,193 recoveries were recorded today, bringing the total to 1,030,367 who have recovered from the disease.

Also, 90 people were reported to have died from COVID-19 infections to bring to 18,562 the total number of COVID-19 deaths.

A total of 10 duplicates were removed from the total case count, and all 10 cases are recoveries.

Also, around 40 cases previously recorded as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

All labs were operational on May 8, 2021 while 5 labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).
