THE Department of Health (DOH) today logged only 870 new COVID-19 infections compared to yesterday’s 941 cases, based on the DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin issued today, March 6, 2022.
Overall, the number of COVID-19 infections in the country is now at 3,667,542 cases.
Active cases dropped to 48,793 cases today from yesterday’s 49,374. Active cases are patients undergoing treatment in government hospitals and temporary quarantine facilities
Recoveries from COVID-19 today, however, slid to 1,433 cases from yesterday’s 1,784 count, pushing overall COVID-19 recoveries in the country to 3,561,726 cases.
Also, COVID-19 deaths rose to 144 cases today compared to yesterday’s 109 to raise the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 57,023.
Positivity rate today, meanwhile, went up slightly to 3.9 percent from yesterday’s 3.8 percent and with 24,543 people tested.
Also, 91.3 percent of the cases were mild and asymptomatic, the DOH bulletin noted.
A total of six duplicates were removed from the total case count, and two were recoveries.
Also, 130 cases tagged earlier as recoveries were reclassified as deaths upon final validation.
All laboratories were operational on March 4, 2022, and five laboratories were not able to submit its data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). According to data in the last 14 days, the five laboratories contribute, on average, 0.8 percent of samples tested and 0.5 percent of positive individuals.
Further, data from March 3 is used for healthcare utilization figures due to a shift in version in DOH Data Collect.
The agency continues to remind the public not to become complacent against the threat of COVID-19 and make it a habit to follow the minimum public health standards and to always wear face masks, and also face shields when in medical facilities, maintain physical distancing and frequently wash hands. At the onset of symptoms, immediately isolate and undergo testing. Remember to be tested at the right time, and to be vaccinated in order to receive added protection against COVID-19.
