THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced it will hold a “mock elections” before the end of 2021 as part of its preparation for Election 2022.
In a briefing, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said they are eyeing to hold the mock elections by the last week of December.
However, Jimenez did not provide an exact date for the mock polls, except that they are preparing the necessary requirements for the activity.
He said those included to expect during the mock elections is the queuing of an actual voter, and to see how a voter would move or behave, especially since there’s still a COVID-19 pandemic.
He also announced that there are 65.5 million registered voters for Election 2022.
He also said that 99.6 percent from the almost 97,000 vote counting machines or VCMs are already fully refurbished but around 334 were subjected to “quarantine” or are still being evaluated.
He added the final build of the VCMs is expected on the first week of December.
