THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) urged those who protested the dismantling of illegally posted campaign materials to file a complaint.
The poll body said anyone is welcome to file a complaint about its ongoing campaign to remove election campaign materials posted in illegal areas or those not designated as common poster areas.
Spokesperson James Jimenez said that if people think there is something wrong with what the poll body is doing, the Comelec office is open to receive any complaint.
“I would recommend to anyone who has a problem with what we are doing to file a complaint about what we are doing. In the meantime, we are taking steps to make sure that our laws are being complied with,” says Jimenez.
There were people who earlier protested Comelec’s actions in removing campaign materials, even those posted in private properties which, according to election campaign guidelines, is allowed as long as there is permission from the property owner.
“Again, if anyone feels that they have an action against the Comelec, they should pursue that action,” adds Jimenez.
However, Jimenez assured that the poll body is doing everything it can to comply with election laws.
