THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) has already asked the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate an incident shown in a viral video where males dressed in police uniform are seen tearing shaded ballots while inside a polling precinct in Cotabato City.
According to Comelec Commissioner George Erwin Garcia, the directive to the NBI is to investigate the truth and veracity of the video.
Garcia said it is also important to know if the torn shaded ballots are official or just training ballots, or if these are excess ballots, which should be really torn into two, with one half placed inside a ballot box and the other half inside an envelope.
It will also be probed if this has something to do or will be used in a petition for failure of elections filed by one candidate.
In Cotabato City, the police were designated as members of the electoral board that supervised the elections in polling precincts last Monday after the public school teachers refused to serve as electoral board members.
In the viral video, it was noticeable that the people in police uniform did not exert any effort to cover their faces and seemed quite relaxed while they were shown on video tearing the shaded ballots.
