THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) today said that the canvassing of votes from the Local Absentee Voting (LAV) for the May 9 polls is already 100-percent complete.
This was confirmed today by Comelec Spokesperson Atty. John Rex Laudiangco in a press briefing at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).
Laudiangco indicated that based on the latest update this morning, the National Board of Canvassers of the Comelec (NBOC-Comelec) has already completed the counting of votes for the LAV.
In fact, Laudiangco said voter turnout went as high as 88.73 percent, the highest when it comes to the LAV.
It can be recalled that the LAV was held from April 27 to April 29, wherein over 84,000 are registered voters composed of government employees, police, soldiers, and members of the media.
For the LAV, their votes are for national positions only.
Meanwhile, the NBOC-Comelec resumed canvassing at 3 pm today. Present are Comelec officials led by Comelec Chairman Saidamen Pangarungan.
