CALABARZON Covid cases reach 64k

CALAMBA CITY, LAGUNA–The number of COVID-19 cases in the whole CALARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) region went up to 64,106 .

A total of 328 new cases was reported while 56,821 registered as recovered with 1,764 deaths posted.

According to Department of Health Region 4-A OIC–Regional Director Paula Paz Sydiongco, “We only have 5,521 active cases and are currently undergoing treatment in various health facilities in the provinces.”

The province of Laguna has the most number of cases with 17,242, followed by Cavite with 17,160, Rizal with 13,286, Batangas with 10,905 Quezon with a total of 5,513.

RD Sydiongco added tha t they are still currently facing the threat of Covid-19 and we need every one’s cooperation in preventing its spread in the community. As of now, it seems safety protocols are not being strictly implemented, judging from the number of people going out of their homes and onto the streets, many of whom are not wearing masks and lingering with everyone they see on the streets.”

Dir. Sydiongco also reminded, “Let us not take the recent easing of restrictions to go out and travel everywhere we please. This is the time that we need to be wary. It is still best to stay at home and be safe, especially if you do not have any important matter to attend to outside of your residence.”

Mass testing is still ongoing and being implemented by DOH-CALABARZON including the local government units in the various provinces in order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
