VETERAN broadcaster and newspaper columnist Ramon Tulfo, Jr. was arrested by operatives of the Manila Police Department (MPD).

This was confirmed by former Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre and MPD Chief Police Brig. General Leo Francisco, who said Tulfo Jr. was arrested when he attended the hearing this morning at the Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) regarding the libel case filed against him.

Aquirre said that based on the bench warrant issued by the Manila RTC Branch 24 against the broadcaster, he was arrested due to his failure to attend past hearings set by the court.

The libel case filed by Aguirre against Tulfo was due to the latter’s tirades in his newspaper columns against the former DOJ chief.

PBGen. Francisco said that Tulfo Jr. was arrested by the MPD around 10:30 a.m. today and was brought to the MPD-SMART office at the Manila City Hall.

Bail is being prepared for Tulfo’s temporary liberty.
