AN employee of the Bureau of Customs was ambushed and shot to death by a still-unidentified assailant in Sta. Ana, Manila last night.
The victim, identified as Gil Manlapaz Jr., 47 years old and a customs IT operator, did not reach the hospital alive.
His last known residence was at 2144 Road 15, Fabie Estate, Sta. Ana, Manila.
Based on the initial report of the Manila Police District-Police Station 6 (MPD-PS6), it was already past 8 pm last night when the victim visited his ancestral house along P. Gil St., corner Pasig Line, aboard a gray-colored Toyota Fortuner with plate number NBP-5378.
After a few minutes, the victim went back to his vehicle and while he was driving, the motorcycle-riding suspect approached the driver’s side of the vehicle and shot the victim multiple times.
The victim’s relatives managed to bring him to the Sta. Ana Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Police are still conducting an investigation about the incident to identify the assailant and possible motive.
Manlapaz is the fourth victim of an ambush on BOC employees since December of last year, and is the second one to have perished.
