Bicam OKs proposed P5.024-T national budget for 2022

THE Bicameral Conference Committee today approved the proposed P5.024-trillion 2022 national budget.

Senators and congressmen convened this morning at the EDSA Shangri-La for the Bicam meeting.

The meeting was led by Senate Committee on Finance chairman Sonny Angara, and House Committee on Appropriations chairman Eric Go Yap.

Both signed the committee report.

The budget was thoroughly scrutinized during the Bicam meeting and where the varying provisions of the 2022 General Appropriations Bill (GAB) by both the Senate and the House were consolidated.

Both houses of Congress were determined to ratify the Bicam report this week since Congress will take its annual Christmas break by next week.

Once the Bicam report is ratified, it will be immediately sent to the Office of the President for President Rodrigo Duterte to sign the 2022 GAB into law.

Among the provisions ironed out during the Bicam was the allocation of the Special Risk Allowance (SRA) for health care workers, for COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots, and the funding of the controversial National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict or NTF-ELCAC.
