The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Friday announced the arrest of a Chinese national allegedly connected to an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO).
In a statement, BI Intelligence Division Chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. identified the suspect as Pan Meishu, also known as Hannah, 49, who was apprehended in Pasay City on Thursday.
Pan will remain in BI custody pending deportation proceedings.
The BI revealed that Pan is reportedly associated with Zun Yuan Technology, an illegal POGO operation in Bamban, Tarlac, which was previously raided by authorities for alleged involvement in criminal and human trafficking activities. Zun Yuan, formerly known as Hongsheng Gaming Technology, Inc., is linked to ongoing investigations involving former Bamban Mayor Alice Leal Guo.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado commended the operation, emphasizing the bureau’s commitment to cracking down on illegal POGO activities.
“These companies engaging in illegal activities have no place in the country. Expect more arrests as we intensify our efforts against illegal POGO operations,” Viado stated.
