Day Six of the Enhanced Community Quarantine marked the entry of new COVID-19 cases into the 12,000 threshold as the Department of Health (DOH), in its latest bulletin, registered 12,576 new COVID-19 cases today.

Also, DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin #385 showed there were 599 recoveries and a higher number of deaths at 103 compared to yesterday’s 17 total.

The number of COVID-19 cases is now at a 784,043 total.

In the overall case tally, 21.1 percent (165,715) are active cases, 77.2 percent (604,905) have recovered, and 1.71 percent (13,423) have died.

The DOH, however, noted that the relatively high number of deaths recorded today is due to the ongoing data reconciliation process with both the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and local Epidemiology Surveillance Units (ESUs) of the DOH. The agency wishes to assure the public that in the interest of accurate data, they are exerting all efforts to validate deaths as they are reported.

Around 30 duplicates were removed from the total case count, of which 14 are recoveries, while 48 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths upon final validation.

A total of seven (7) laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) on April 2, 2021.

The DOH continues to remind the public that they should just stay at home if there is no compelling or essential reason to go out in order to stop the spread of COVID-19. The public is also advised to contact their local Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs) or the One Hospital Command Center at the onset of any symptoms.
