Andaya Criminal Group member nabbed in Caloocan for selling gun, grenade

A MEMBER of the notorious Andaya Criminal Group was arrested after offering to sell a gun and grenade to a policeman in a buy-bust operation by the police in Caloocan City the other night.

The suspect was identified as Jun Lemana alias “Bay,” 39 years old and a vendor from 43 Ovalleaf Maligaya Street, Parkland Brgy. 177 in Caloocan City.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group – Regional Field Unit National Capital Region (CIDG RGU NCR) received information that the suspect posed as an active member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and was selling a gun at the northern part of Metro Manila. The report was then placed the suspect under validation.

It was then that the police learned that the suspect was not in active service and still continues with selling firearms illegally. This prompted operatives from the CIDG Southern Metro Manila District Field Unit (SMMDFU) and the Army Intelligence Regiment to mount a buy-bust operation at the suspect’s house at around 6 p.m.

The operatives immediately grabbed the suspect after selling a firearm to a cop who acted as poseur-buyer and at the same time Lemana offered to sell the cop a grenade.

Confiscated from the suspect was on cal. 45 pistol with five bullets, a hand grenade, two IDs (AFP ID and membership ID), a set of AFP uniform and P1,000 bill dusted money and boodle money.

The suspect is facing charges for violating R.A 10591 in relation to the Election Gun Ban, Article 177 (Usurpation of Official Functions), Article 179 (Illegal Use of Uniforms or Insignia) and RA 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosives).
