Teves expected to appear for his June 30 arraignment

FORMER Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves, Jr. is expected to appear in court for his arraignment and pre-trial after being ordered by the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 12.

The arraignment and pre-trial will be held on June 30, 2025 at 8:30 a.m.

Based on the order issued by Presiding Judge Renato Enciso, the arrest of Teves on May 29 by personnel of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Cybercrime Division and Special Task Force was acknowledged.

The court also ordered the NBI to produce the accused on the hearing date, and also summoned witness Luciana Pialago Bato from Siaton, Negros Oriental for the hearing on the same date.

Teves is facing murder charges along with several other accused in a 2019 incident that also included the ambush of a former NBI agent.

The lawmaker’s camp is set to file a motion to defer all scheduled proceedings as he continues to recover after undergoing surgery.

Teves is temporarily detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology detention facility in Bicutan, Taguig City.
