SUBIC, ZAMBALES — A woman and her child were found dead Friday night following a suspected arson attack in an abandoned house at Block 1, Saint James Subdivision, Barangay Calapacuan. The horrific incident unfolded on Good Friday, casting a somber shadow over the holy day.
Authorities have apprehended one suspect, identified only by the alias “Tisoy,” while another alleged accomplice remains at large. The blaze reportedly started inside a long-abandoned house owned by a certain Neri Naic.
Local sources revealed that the house had become a notorious site for illegal drug activities, often used as a hangout spot for drug users. Despite repeated concerns from residents, the property had seen little to no intervention from authorities prior to the incident.
Police and Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) are currently conducting a full investigation, treating the case as murder with arson. Grief-stricken residents are calling for swift justice, mourning the victims and questioning how such a tragedy could have been allowed to happen.
