Cabuyao, Laguna – Around 70 personnel of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) gathered today at Kilometer 54 along the northbound lane in Cabuyao, Laguna to stage a protest against the management of San Miguel Corporation (SMC).
The protest, which began early in the day, was reportedly held in opposition to alleged illegal terminations and low salaries. Protesters occupied part of the roadway, resulting in slow-moving traffic along the northbound stretch of SLEX.
Motorists experienced delays as the demonstration continued, with no official statement yet released by the SLEX management or SMC regarding the workers’ grievances or the impact on traffic flow.
Authorities are monitoring the situation to ensure safety and restore normal traffic conditions.
