Easterlies to bring rain showers, cloudy skies across parts of the Philippines

Several parts of the country will experience overcast skies and rain showers on Monday due to the easterlies, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In a morning weather update, PAGASA weather specialist Rhea Torres reported that Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Negros Island Region, Caraga, Sorsogon, Masbate, Capiz, Iloilo, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and parts of the Bicol Region will see cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean.

“We are seeing clouds approaching the land. These are due to the easterlies or warm winds from the Pacific,” Torres explained in Filipino.

“Because of the easterlies, much of the Visayas, the eastern sections of Mindanao, and some parts of the Bicol Region may experience rainy weather,” she added.

PAGASA warned residents in affected areas to be cautious of possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall.
