Zambales DPWH Office upgraded to 2nd Class District following infrastructure milestones

THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Zambales 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) has been elevated from a 3rd Class to a 2nd Class district office under Department Order No. 206, Series of 2024, issued by DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan on November 6, 2024.

The reclassification reflects the district’s significant infrastructure development, with its national equivalent road length increasing from 89.678 kilometers in October 2023 to 102.525 kilometers by October 2024.

Key projects contributing to the milestone include road widening initiatives along the Olongapo-Bugallon and San Jose Abad Santos Roads, which expanded two-lane roads to four lanes.

Additionally, the Subic Bypass Road was reclassified from a local road to a national road, and Rizal Avenue was integrated into the Road and Bridge Information Application (RBIA), further enhancing the district’s infrastructure profile.

The upgrade underscores the DPWH’s commitment to improving connectivity and infrastructure in the region, paving the way for economic growth and better public services.
