SEVERAL eligible elderly citizens from the town of Mariveles in Bataan were awarded with cash incentives by the local government as mandated by the ordinance passed by the local legislature.
The ten senior citizens, aged 80 to 90 years old, received their cash incentives from Mariveles Mayor Ace Jello Concepcion himself when he personally visited their homes and awarded them their incentive from the local government, as mandated by the ordinance passed by the Sangguniang Bayan led by Vice Mayor Lito Rubia.
The mayor was joined by Municipal Social Welfare Development Officer (MSWDO) Raymundo Cuadro, Office of The Senior Citizens’ Affairs (OSCA) Andrea Gutierrez, and Cariz Descallar from the Treasurer’s Office. Their presence aimed to ensure the smooth and comfortable delivery of the incentives to the qualified beneficiaries in their respective homes.
The ten elderly beneficiaries will receive P10,000 for those 80 years of age, while one beneficiary, who is already 90 years old, will receive P20,000.
“We are delighted to personally visit our beloved senior citizens to extend the help and support coming from our local government. We wish them continued good health, well-being, and a longer life,” Concepcion stated.
He added, “To our grandparents, our ‘lolo’ and ‘lola,’ you are dearly loved by the Municipality of Mariveles.“
The cash incentives were distributed in accordance with the ordinance and were awarded to the town’s elderly folk as a token of appreciation for their years of wisdom and experience, acknowledgment of their valuable contribution to the community and to ensure their welfare and happiness.
Under the Centenarians Act of 2016 or Republic Act 10868, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) provides a Centenarians Cash Gift to Filipino citizens who reach the age of 100. Under this law, centenarians (individuals who have reached 100 years old) are entitled to receive a cash gift of P100,000 from the government. This incentive aims to recognize and give tribute to the senior citizens who have reached the remarkable age of 100 and above, acknowledging their contributions to society and providing support for their well-being.
