Criminal charges filed vs cop for attempted robbery in Oriental Mindoro

FORMAL charges were filed with the Oriental Mindoro Provincial Prosecutor’s Office against P/Cpl. Leonell Maranan of the Technical Support Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion, Philippine National Police MIMAROPA (MIMAROPA-PNP).

The filing of a criminal complaint against Maranan was relayed by the PNP Public Information Office in Camp Crame.

Maranan is the police officer caught in the act of attempting to rob a hardware store in Brgy. Sta. Maria, Gloria town in Oriental Mindoro by responding barangay tanods. He said he did the act due to his supposed addiction to online sabong.

Gloria Municipal Police Station Chief P/Maj. Edwin Villarba was the one who filed two criminal cases against Maranan, one for attempted robbery and one for violation of the Omnibus Election Code for carrying a firearm.

However, Maranan was freed temporarily after posting bail.
