ONE died after failing to escape from a burning house along Boni Avenue, Brgy. Malamig in Mandaluyong City.
The victim was identified as Allen Villanueva, 27 years old and working in a food establishment.
According to the victim’s uncle, Raymond Vilanueva, the victim was intoxicated and was sleeping at the second floor of their house when the incident happened.
He said he tried to save the victim, including the victim’s father Alfredo Villanueva, from the blaze but the fire quickly spread around the house.
.Alfredo suffered second-degree burns and was taken to a hospital.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection, they are looking at faulty electrical wiring as a possible cause of the fire that started past 7 am that was quickly raised to the first alarm.
The fire quickly spread since the houses in the area were made of light materials.
Boni Avenue was temporarily closed while the firemen tried to put out the blaze.
A total of three houses were damaged by the fire that was declared fire out at 8:13 am.
Fire victims are now worried that they are now homeless during the Christmas season.
