THE Department of Health (DOH) recorded 3,117 new COVID-19 infections today, lower than yesterday’s 3,410 count, according to the DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin issued today, November 1, 2021.
The number is the lowest recorded in 23 weeks or since May 23, 2021 with 3,083 new infections.
This brings the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country to 2,790,375 cases.
Active cases, on the other hand, again went down to 43,185 cases today after registering a 45,233 count yesterday. Active cases or patients are those undergoing treatment in government hospitals and temporary quarantine facilities.
Recoveries from COVID-19 today, meanwhile, registered 5,124 new recoveries after posting 5,825 recoveries yesterday. Overall, COVID-19 recoveries have reached 2.7 million with 2,703,914 cases.
The DOH noted 104 COVID-19 fatalities today compared to yesterday’s 128 deaths today to bring the total COVID-19 deaths to 43,276.
Positivity rate today, meanwhile, rose slightly to 7.5 percent from yesterday’s 7.2 percent based on 41,712 people who were tested.
Around 77.5 percent of the cases were mild and asymptomatic, the DOH bulletin noted.
A total of 18 duplicates were removed from the total case count, of which 13 were recoveries.
There were also 68 cases that were tagged earlier as recoveries but were reclassified as deaths upon final validation.
All laboratories were operational on October 30, 2021 while eight laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the eight non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 0.8 percent of samples tested and 1.1 percent of positive individuals.
The agency continues to remind the public to ensure their safety and to strictly observe safety protocols and to have themselves vaccinated as soon as possible. It also reiterates that the safety of the country is everyone’s responsibility, and that by helping each other, the country will overcome this COVID-19 pandemic.
