BUMABABA na ang bilang ng mga namamatay sa COVID-19 sa kabila ng patuloy na pagtaas ng bilang mga bagong kaso ng tinatamaan ng sakit sa bansa, ayon sa Department of Health (DOH).
“The Department of Health (DOH) today reported a decrease in the 2021 case fatality rate (CFR) among COVID-19 cases despite cases increasing by three fold, comparing 2021 and 2020 cases,” pahayag ng ahensya noong Miyerkules.
Bumaba sa 1.47 percent ang COVID-19 case fatality rate (CFR) ng Pilipinas ngayong 2021 kumpara sa 2.47 percent noong 2020, ayon sa datos ng DOH.
“The decrease shown in the national case fatality rate was multifactorial. One of the factors that the department is considering is the overall improvement of the country’s healthcare system over the past year and its ability to cope with the higher demand for clinical assessment, referral, and management of cases,” paliwanag ni DOH spokesperson at Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.
“The COVID-19 vaccination program also played a role in the decrease. Vaccines continue to provide the promised protection against more severe COVID-19 and deaths. Moreover, this was the effect of the strategies and behavioral-change campaigns implemented as early as August 2020 to mitigate the risk of transmission and slow down the spread of COVID-19,” dagdag ni Vergeire.
Bumaba nang dalawang beses ang COVID-19 fatality rate sa hanay ng senior citizens kumpara noong nakaraang taon.
Lumalabas na ang NCR, na siyang may pinakamataas na kaso ngayong 2021, ay siya namang may pinakamababang COVID-19 fatality rate mula sa 17 na rehiyon sa bansa.
Patuloy naman ang pakikipagtulungan ng kagawaran sa mga lokal na pamahalaan upang pataasin ang bilang ng mga bakunado lalo na sa mga senior citizens o nasa A2 priority group. Ito ay upang maprotektahan sila sa mas nakakahawang variant ng virus na maaari nilang ikasawi.
Batay sa datos noong Lunes, nasa mahigit 18 milyong Filipino na ang mga fully vaccinated sa bansa kontra COVID-19.
