COVID-19 cases breach 1-million mark today

The number of COVID-19 cases in the country finally breached the one-million mark as the Department of Health (DOH) recorded an additional 8,929 cases today for an overall count of 1,006,428 cases.

Active cases were at 74,623, which was slightly lower than yesterday’s 77,075 total.

In the DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin #408 released today, April 26, 2021, there were also 11,333 recoveries added to bring the total tally to 914,952 recoveries.

There were also 70 deaths recorded for a 16,853 total number of deaths.

The DOH noted that 23 duplicates were removed from the total case count, where 18 were tagged as recoveries.

Also, one case was found to have tested negative and has been removed from the total case count. The case was a recovery.

Moreover, 27 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

Two laboratories did not operate on April 24, 2021 while nine laboratories failed to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).
