MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan – CURRENTLY, there are 778 ‘Bulakenyo’ families are being temporarily housed in designated evacuation centers as they watched their homes submerged in about four feet deep of flood-waters due to Super Typhoon Rolly.
As Rolly moves away from the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), Governor Daniel Fernando continue to monitor the aftermath of the typhoon at the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Operation Center.
Fernando mobilizes all of its asset to ensure assistance to residents affected by the storm.
Based on the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Space Administration’s forecast, the province was one of the many areas in Luzon region under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) No. 4.
The continuous rainfall, the immediate released of waters from Ipo Dam accompanied with high tides caused the flooding in 8 barangays in the municipality of Hagonoy, 18 barangays in Calumpit, 3 in Balagtas, 2 in Bocaue and 1 in Marilao.
There were also reports that several barangays in other towns were also submerged in flood but have not yet been reported to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices.
Fernando previously ordered the preparation of a list of prepositioned response teams in each local government to better monitor the situation in each area in the province.
Even before the storm arrived, the Bulacan Sports Complex and Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium were both serves as main evacuation centers with 20,000 food packs ready to be distributed.
There are also a total of 42 evacuation centers assigned to the cities and towns including Malolos, Meycauayan and San Jose Del Monte, Calumpit, Obando, Pulilan, Norzagaray, Bulacan, San Miguel, Paombong, Hagonoy, Guiguinto , and Plaridel currently accommodating 778 families with 2,932 individuals.
Fernando expressed his gratitude that the province is safe from the effects of the super typhoon and that everyone’s cooperation and having a strong relationship with God is very important in times of this unfortunate catastrophes.
“I am very grateful to our great God and to everyone’s prayers that our province be always safe from this storm. I strongly believe that “prayers can move mountains”. It is also a big thing that we have a close relationship and follow the right information and we pray together to the Lord. We will continue to be careful and we will continue to watch over our fellow Bulakenyos,” the governor said.
