Finally, the long wait for local basketball fans is over!
The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) announced today the opening of its 46th season will happen on July 16 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The announcement came after the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases gave the go signal to the PBA to go ahead with its tournament under a closed-circuit setup where players, coaches, and staff will only go from their homes to the playing venue and straight back home after the games.
Games and Amusement Board (GAB) chairman Baham Mitra said, “The IATF has already approved the resumption of the PBA in a meeting yesterday. The PBA will start on July 16.”
It can be recalled that the last time the PBA held games was way back in December 2020 during Game 5 of the Philippine Cup Finals where the Barangay Ginebra Kings defeated the TnT Tropang Giga (82-78) during the bubble tournament in Angeles University Foundation gym in Pampanga.
