THE Philippines received another 3 million doses of the CoronaVac vaccines made by China-based firm Sinovac on Sunday, September 19.

This latest vaccine shipment from Sinovac arrived at the Ninoy Aquino Inernational Airport (NAIA) past 6:00 pm via a commercial Philippine Airlines flight.

National Task Force Against COVID-19 (NTF) Chief Implementer and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr. and Police Major Marvin Oloab witnessed the arrival of the vaccines.

According to Galvez, the newest vaccine shipment will be distributed to Regions 3, 4-A, 7, 11 and the National Capital Region.

The vaccine czar said the national government is facing challenges in inoculating the country’s senior citizens due to the surge in COVID-19 cases.

Yung isa sa mga challenges natin, talagang ayaw lumabas ng mga matatanda para magpabakuna dahil takot pa rin ngayon dahil tumaas ang kaso,” he said.

Palagay ko, ‘pag bumaba na ang kaso natin later on, ‘yung mga nabakunahan na mga senior lumabas na, palagay ko, magkakaroon ng incentives for all our seniors to go out,” Galvez added.

Sinovac has so far delivered 36 million CoronaVac doses to the country, where 34,100,000 doses were procured by the national government.

The arrival of these CoronaVac vaccines thus brings to 62,359,810 the total number of all COVID-19 vaccines delivered to the country since February.
