IN line with its commitment to environmental sustainability, Herbalife Nutrition Philippines joined hands with Green Antz Builders, Inc. for Herbalife’s waste diversion initiative, the Herbalife Nutrition Go Green Recycling Program.
“We are taking a proactive stance in promoting environmental sustainability through proper waste diversion in the Go Green Recycling Program,” said Sridhar Rajagopalan, Senior Director, Sub-Region General Manager of Herbalife Nutrition Philippines during the virtual launch of the program and the press conference with local media.
“We are trying to ensure the active participation of our employees and members to support this green effort. The primary purpose of the recycling program is to promote better waste diversion and create awareness of the need to conserve and protect the environment.”
Waste diversion is an environmental protection and sustainability initiative that involves the recycling and reuse of materials that would otherwise just be thrown away in dump sites and landfills.
Under the program, Herbalife Nutrition employees and members are encouraged to drop off empty Herbalife Nutrition product canisters and bottles at designated Go Green bins, such as the one found in the Herbalife Nutrition head office in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City.
Rajagopalan shared that Herbalife Nutrition has chosen to partner with Green Antz because of the company’s track record in manufacturing green building materials.
“Herbalife Nutrition has found a very reliable partner in Green Antz for its waste diversion project, turning empty plastic Herbalife canisters and bottles into green building materials. We can learn from each other’s practices and improve our efficiencies,” he said.
Green Antz provides companies with building and housing solutions that integrate eco-friendly practices and green technologies in its products and services. It builds modular sidewalks, grasscretes, greenites, eco boards, bollards, lot markers, hand wash stations, benches, trash bins, and modular eco homes, among others, out of recycled materials.
It has already partnered with multinational corporations, leading Philippine companies, including local government units for many of its projects. In 2019, Green Antz was declared the winner in the Construction Innovation category of the Asia Pacific Housing Forum held in Bangkok, Thailand.
Rommel Benig, President and CEO of Green Antz Builders, Inc., informed the media of its full appreciation of Herbalife Nutrition’s commitment to pursue sustainability because this is something that is also part of the Green Antz DNA.
“With this milestone, what we are creating is a platform for collaboration. This is a platform where Herbalife Nutrition employees, customers, and other stakeholders can participate and do their share of protecting the environment,” Benig said.
Apart from the Herbalife Nutrition Go Green Recycling Program, Herbalife Nutrition has started other local initiatives in the country as part of its environmental sustainability commitment.
