A mother who is an alleged New People’s Army (NPA) member abandoned her two-month old son in Negros Occidental.

A concerned citizen informed the 7th Infantry Battalion of Philippine Army about some rebels roaming around in Hacienda Ambulog, Brgy. San Fernando, Negros Occidental.

As the military troops approached the said place, they have found a baby believed left behind by a rebel in front of a house of a villager in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

The infant was said to be left by a rebel named Ka Jandy who escaped with fellow rebel Ka Moneth.

The baby was turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development Officer for custody and care.

“We are saddened that the baby was abandoned by her mother because of a senseless cause,” said Lt Col. Gerard Alvaran, commanding officer of 7th Infantry Battalion.
