Thirteen detainees who are all positive for COVID-19 have escaped from the Caloocan City Police Station’s temporary detention facility early Thursday morning.
Caloocan Police Chief Col. Dario Menor, however, said that the detainees were tested positive for virus in rapid antibody tests only and confirmatory RT-PCR test is needed.
The incident transpired at around 1 o’clock in the morning and the detainees used a small hole they carved in the concrete detention room.
The 13 escapes were among the 31 detainees in a room in the Caloocan City Hall Custodial Facility Unit were supposed to be transferred to Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facilities. The detainees are all facing charges of possession of illegal drugs and illegal firearms.
Hot pursuit and investigation on the jail break is ongoing.
