A 24-year-old woman was killed while her husband sustained a serious injury after a large tree fell on a rooftop of their home at the height of heavy rainfall brought by typhoon “Quinta” in San Pablo City, Laguna on Monday morning, October 26, 2020.
According to Mayor Loreto Amante, victim Mary Grace Annonuevo was pinned down by the tree moments after it collapses and fell straight down to their home at Barangay Concepcion.
Rescuers managed to pulled her and immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by a physician while Rommel, her husband suffered a broken leg and was then transferred to City’s General Hospital.
It was learned that their two children and Rommel’s brother John Rey survived the freak incident.
Amante said that residents in the said Barangay have already warned by their officials to evacuate their homes due to typhoon “Quinta” which will wreak havoc in most portions of Luzon including Laguna.
Meanwhile, the City Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) conducted a clearing operation in major highways of the city due to debris scattered in the middle of the road.
