During the visit of Bataan 1st District Representative Geraldine Roman recently in Barangay Naparing, Dinalupihan, Bataan for a public consultation, assured its constituents of their safety over a major project of the Bases Conversion Development Authority or BCDA.
Congresswoman Roman met with residents and the neighboring barangays of Colo, Happy Valley, and Pag-asa with BCDA officials to discuss the Subic-Clark Railway Project and its impact on the aforementioned barangays.
“I am happy to inform you that the 427 households and public buildings that will be affected by the initial plan of the said project will no longer be affected due to the proposed realignment for the train route,” Roman told residents who were present at the consultation meeting.
According to Roman, BCDA Senior Vice President Joshua Bingcang have assured that they will follow the proposed realignment so no single home would be destroyed.
Roman added that the issue was resolved due to her continuing talks with the BCDA as she was accompanied by several barangay chairmen led by Ariel Cruz of Barangay Colo, Michael Reyes of Barangay Happy Valley, Daniel Cajape of Barangay Hope and Thelma Mangubat of Naparing.
The Subic-Clark Railway Project has a total budget of P50 billion funded through Development Assistance Program (DAP) of China.
It is a 71.13-kilometer-long project and will serve as a cargo railway that will connect the Subic Bay Freeport Zone and Clark Freeport Zone to support current industrial activities and meet potential demand for freight services in the Subic-Clark Corridor.
