WALANG dapat ikaalarma tungkol sa ulat ng terror attacks sa anim na bansa sa Southeast Asian region, kabilang ang Pilipinas.
Ito ang tugon ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) sa naging pahayag ng Embahada ng Japan sa Pilipinas kaugnay ng natanggap na intelligence report sa nasabing “terror attacks.”
Sinabi ni PCG Commandant, CG Vice Admiral Leopoldo Laroya, na ang district commanders sa iba’t-ibang rehiyon sa buong bansa ay laging pinaiigting ang border protection measures at 24/7 seaborne patrol operations sa kanilang mga nasasakupang lugar.
Mahigpit nilang binabantayan ang mga vvital sea lanes pati na rin ang maritime transportation installations at infrastructure.
“As the third armed service of the country, the PCG never takes a break in upholding maritime security and ensuring the safety of fishermen and other mariners venturing into our maritime jurisdiction,” pahayag ni CG Vice Admiral Laroya.
“With the latest pronouncement of the Japan Embassy, rest assured that our men and women will not put their guards down and will continue to be vigilant in conducting precautionary measures for public safety,” dagdag pa nito.
“Our intelligence officers and deployed personnel are always coordinating with the National Intelligence Committee, Anti-Terrorism Council, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Philippine National Police to assist in the implementation of whole-of-nation approach in dealing with national security and public safety issues.”
Bukod dito, mungkahi ni Laroya sa publiko na manatiling mapagbantay at mag-ulat sa tamang mga awtoridad ng anumang kahina-hinalang tao o aktibidad sa mga daungan, mga harbor, at mga komunidad sa baybayin para sa agarang pagkilos.
Sa direktiba ni Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade, tiniyak din ng Coast Guard Commandant sa mga maritime stakeholder na sa kabila ng nasabing ulat, maaari silang magpatuloy sa kanilang normal na operasyon dahil ang PCG ay nagsasagawa ng kinakailangang aktibidad upang mapangalagaan ang pambansang seguridad at ang publiko, kaligtasan sa lahat ng oras, lalo na sa oras na ito ng pandaigdigang pandemya.
