VP Duterte says resignation ‘not yet on the table’ after House impeachment

Manila, Philippines – Vice President Sara Duterte on Friday dismissed any immediate plans to resign following her impeachment by the House of Representatives.

“We’re not yet there. That’s still too far ahead,” Duterte said in Filipino during a press conference.

She added that she and her team were still reviewing the impeachment complaint. “Only the lawyers are working on it. I don’t know what they’re doing,” she admitted.

Duterte’s statement comes just two days after the House voted overwhelmingly in favor of her impeachment, with 215 lawmakers supporting the move. Despite the political turmoil, the Vice President has yet to indicate whether she will challenge the decision or take further action.
