According to a report, Le Van Tri was convicted for “spreading infectious diseases to other people” after traveling to his home province Ca Mau from a coronavirus hotspot Ho Chi Minh City in July.

The 28-year old Tri was accused of violating the 21-day home quarantine protocol in the Ca Mau province after he got tested positive of COVID-19 last July 7, which had a lower case than Ho Chi Minh City.

In a statement, it said Tri’s violation of the home quarantine protocol led to the infection of eight other people and one had died on August. 7.

Vietnam is on the verge of combating its most serious outbreaks, where nearly 540,000 infections and more than 13,000 deaths were recorded.
