Top Pinoy NBA prospect confirms playing for Gilas

The country’s brightest prospect and inspiration among many home-grown Filipino hoopsters to catch that elusive NBA dream confirmed he will play for flag and country.

The 18-year-old, 7-foot-3 beanpole Kai Zachary Sotto confirmed via an Instagram video that he will be back in the country in time for the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers’ February window

The FIBA qualifiers will be held next month in a bubble format in Clark, Pampanga.

The teen NBA hopeful said he is excited to be given the opportunity to don the national colors as a member of Gilas Pilipinas, the country’s men’s national basketball team in the upcoming window.

He also thanked his throng of supporters and believers of his dream to play for the national team and in the right time, in the National Basketball Association.

Sotto is currently in heavy training with other members of “Team Ignite,” a developmental team composed of young and elite basketball prospects who will play in the NBA G League tournament also in February.

Also included in the team is part-Filipino Jalen Green, another top basketball recruit, and ranked number 1 shooting guard by ESPN last year.
