Some Filipinos seems to have had experiencing a “change” in their sleep or not been able to sleep at night since the pandemic caused by coronavirus disease (COVID-19) begun on March this year.

Some say it is difficult for them to sleep while others do not feel sleepy while their eyes were wide open until morning comes.

“I also haven’t been able to sleep right away,” Humprey Defeles said.

It’s very difficult to sleep now,” said Jimmy Bungan Ayog.

According to sleep disorder specialist Dr. Roland dela Eva, these symptoms are same with insomnia experienced by many.

The unable to sleep which is sometime experienced by individuals nowadays are cause by stress and other emotions due to the pandemic in our country.

“There is fear, there is sadness, there seems to be no certainty in the future. Much of our kababayans who lost their jobs because of the pandemic suffers greatly,” said dela Eva.

“We lose what seems to be our life’s daily routine, every day we go to work, back and forth, but in just a tap of fingertip, we lose the structure of our daily activities,” he added.

Some of the effects of insomnia include being moody, irritable and having difficulty focusing on activities.
