THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) released today the tentative list of candidates for the 2022 National and Local elections.
In a statement, he poll body said the list is based on the Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) and Certificates of Nomination and Acceptance (CONAs), including Certificates of Nomination that were filed during the October 1-8, 2021 filing period.
The list includes 97 candidates for President, 28 for VP, 174 for senator, and 270 for party-list groups.
The list can now be accessed via the Comelec’s official website.
Also uploaded is the lists of those vying for Member of the House of Representatives, including provincial, city and municipal offices.
However, there were some regions that displayed only partial lists as some provinces’ list are still unavailable.
The posting of the list of candidates is in accordance with the Comelec’s calendar of activities, which set the date of October 29, 2021 as the date of posting of the tentative list of candidates on the poll body’s website and at offices where COCs were filed so aspirants can check if their names will appear in the official ballot for the elections.
“The contents of the list as uploaded are not yet final. We still have deadlines for requests for correction of names to appear on the ballot, and for substitutions of official candidates due to withdrawal,” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said in the statement.
The last day for the filing of request for correction of names to appear on the ballot is on November 8, 2021.
Meanwhile, the last day for the substitution of an official candidate of a political party or coalition who withdrew, died or was disqualified by final judgment, to file a COC is on November 15, 2021, the statement concluded.
