THE Department of Health (DOH) today said it had already detected COVID-19 cases with the sub-lineage of the Omicron variant called BA.1 and BA.2, also known as Stealth Omicron.
According to DOH Spokesperson and Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, the BA.1 was detected in eight regions in the country, mostly in Region 5 and among returning overseas Filipinos.
Also considered as pre-dominant is the BA.2 or stealth omicron in majority of regions in the country.
Meanwhile, Vergeire said they have yet to discover significant differences in the clinical presentation of BA.1 and BA.2 of the Omicron variant, and that they still have limited data about it.
It was also learned from Vergeire that although there are many BA.1 omicron variant cases recorded, they also noted an increase in BA.2 or stealth omicron cases.
