PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Guillermo Eleazar told all police units in the National Capital Region (NCR) to strictly enforce the new curfew hours.
The country’s top cop PGen Eleazar assured that the shortened curfew hours does not mean that the police will be lax on enforcement and likewise assured enhanced police visibility from 12 midnight to 4 a.m.
“We will strictly implement the adjusted curfew hours. Hindi po ibig sabihin na napaigsi na ang ating curfew hours sa Metro Manila ay magluluwag na po ang ating kapulisan sa pagbabantay,” he said.
“Shortening curfew hours will allow more people to visit malls, restaurants and other establishments, a move that would help our economic recovery from the effects of the pandemic,” PGen, Eleazar added.
The PNP chief instructed the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) to closely coordinate enforcement with barangay officials who are also tapped to strictly implement the curfew.
PGen, Eleazar, meanwhile, appealed to the public to abide by the curfew to avoid arrest.
“Umaapela at nagpapaalala pa din po tayo sa publiko na sundin ang bagong curfew at huwag nang maglalamyerda pa pagsapit ng hatinggabi,” he said.
“We have always strictly implemented curfew and we will not hesitate to enforce our local ordinances and arrest curfew violators,” PGen. Eleazar warned.
