MALACAÑANG branded a social media post saying that it declared Tuesday next week, August 9, as a holiday to be fake news.

The Palace denied that it declared August 9 as a holiday since it falls on the same day as the state funeral of former President Fidel Ramos, who died recently.

In an official Facebook post, Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said the social media post that purportedly said August 9 was declared as a special non-working holiday by Malacaňang is fake news .

Angeles emphasized that the Palace did not release any announcement or proclamation regarding this.

In relation to this, Angeles appealed to the public to be vigilant against what they read and see on social media.

Meanwhile, President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. officially swore into office yesterday Dr. Samuel Zacate as Director General of the Food and Drug Administration, Retired Brig. Gen. Roman Felix as Secretary of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Military Affairs (OPAMA), and Ret. Maj. Gen. Ariel Caculitan and Ret. Police Gen. Isagani Nerez as Undersecretaries.

Also sworn in were Atty. Nesauro Firme for the Judicial and Bar Council representing the academe and Lt. Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. as chief of the Philippine National Police.
