Slaughter return with GSM? Not so fast, says Chua

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel slotman Greg Slaughter already said his wish for the New Year is to return to his former team for Season 46 of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

He is determined. In fact, he wrote a lengthy apology to SMC management, especially to SMC chief Ramon S. Ang, and SMC Sports Director and Ginebra San Miguel team governor Alfrancis Chua via a long Tweet.

But not so fast, says Chua, for he has yet to talk to Slaughter about his possible return to the team, although he was happy when told about Slaughter’s apology.

The fiery sports executive, who was also a former Ginebra San Miguel coach, said he was busy with work the past few weeks so he wasn’t able to talk to Slaughter.

The 32-year-old center out of Ateneo de Manila University went on a sabbatical since February right after the Gin Kings’ triumph in the PBA Governors’ Cup 2019. He moved to the US in order to hone his game and improve on being a person and as a basketball player.

Just two days ago, Slaughter apologized in a lengthy message where he expressed his desire to play for the Gin Kings again, while saying “his communication with Ang and Chua didn’t go as smoothly as I would’ve wanted.”
