Former six-division champion and now boxing promoter Oscar de la Hoya hinted at having another go at retired, undefeated and self-proclaimed greatest boxer of all time, Floyd Mayweather Jr.
De la Hoya had been hinting at what he called a “revenge fight” should he make a comeback fight that he had been teasing about for the past few months already.
The two boxing champs last met 13 years ago where Mayweather claimed a split-decision victory over De la Hoya for the WBC world junior middleweight diadem.
Another fight option was with Mexican Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. But he was already beaten by Mayweather in 2013 so that puts him out of the equation. De la Hoya already declared he wants to fight the best, and that would be Mayweather, who retired with a 50-0 fight record and is now also a boxing promoter.
Mayweather, 43, whose moniker “Money” seem to irk many boxing fans and even other fighters, retired from competitive boxing in 2017 after a bout with mixed martial arts superstar Conor McGregor.
Mayweather unretired himself again to fight Japanese Tenshin Nasukawa in an exhibition match last December 31, 2018, which Mayweather expectedly won with a first-round knockout.
Another exhibition fight is in the offing for “Money” Mayweather next year with YouTube sensation Logan Paul in a still undetermined venue.
