Shellfish ban in Bataan due to red tide toxin

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has once again enforced a shellfish ban in the province of Bataan due to Red Tide Toxin.

Based on the latest bulletin, BFAR stated the red tide toxin levels are high in the waters of Bataan.

The production, sale and consumption of any type of shellfish is prohibited in the areas of Hermosa, Orani, Samal, Abucay, Balanga City, Pilar, Orion, Limay and Mariveles.

As such, BFAR strictly prohibits the importation, sale and consumption of any type of shellfish such as Tahong, Talaba, Sulib, Biya, Crab, Crab, Alamang and similar species that come from the waters covered by the aforementioned place.

The agency once again warns public to avoid consumption of any type of shellfish.
