AN educational institution based in the southern Philippines filed an urgent petition with the Supreme Court against the “Oplan Baklas” of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
In an extremely urgent petition for certiorari, prohibition and mandamus, the St. Anthony College of Roxas City in Capiz is asking the High Court to issue a Temporary Restraining Order against the Comelec.

Atty. Ray Paolo Santiago from the Ateneo Human Rights Center and the lawyer for the petitioners is asking the high tribunal to conduct a special raffle so that their petition can be tackled as soon as possible.
The petitioners pray through a TRO to immediately stop the removal, defamation, erasure, and confiscation of all campaign materials owned by private individuals and funded by volunteers and private citizens and placed in private areas.
The group wants to declare as unconstitutional Sections 21, 24 and 26 of Comelec Resolution 10730 that is being used against private individuals who are not candidates and their properties used to express support to individuals running in the election.
The petitioners are also asking that the confiscated campaign materials and destroyed murals and billboards be returned.
