THE distribution of assistance or “ayuda” of local government units (LGUs) to residents who were victims of Typhoon Odette is still ongoing, according to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
In his report to President Rodrigo Duterte last night during the “Talk to the People,” DILG Secretary Eduardo Ano said LGUs have already distributed P3.78-billion worth of “ayuda” or 77.94 percent from the total P4.85 billion allotted by the government for this initiative.
According to Ano, a total of 2,535,440 individuals benefited from the program.
Region 4-B and Region 13 were the regions that recorded the highest distribution rate, but the area with the most number that received the “ayuda” were in Region 6.
The DILG chief said they are closely monitoring the distribution of “ayuda” by the LGUs.
He assured that Odette victims will receive the assistance and no money from the government will be wasted or redirected to the pockets of others.
Meanwhile, according to Acting Presidential Spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Alexei Nograles, show cause orders from the DILG were already issued to LGUs who were slow in the distribution of assistance in order for the DILG to determine why they still have not completed the distribution of financial aid up to this time.
