Sacked top cop in Sulu, shot dead in Maguindanao

MANILA – THE former Chief of Police of Jolo in Sulu was gunned down in broad daylight by unidentified armed man in Maguindanao on Saturday, November 21.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Walter Annayo, who was relieved of his post and is facing cases over the June 29 fatal shooting of four Army intelligence officers, was shot several times in Sultan Mastura at around 1:45 p.m.

Initial report said, Annayo, 41, had just parked his car to buy buko juice along the Narciso Ramos Highway in Barangay Macabiso when a lone gunman on board a white Toyota Fortuner, shot him in the head and the body.

It will be recalled, Annayo was administratively relieved after nine of his men were involved in the fatal shooting of four soldiers last June 29 in Jolo.

Annayo was assigned to the Regional Personnel Holding Administrative Office (RPHAO) at the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
