THE Department of Justice (DOJ) made public the results of the study it made on the 52 anti-illegal drugs operations conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) wherein suspects have died, which the PNP submitted for the justice department’s review.

DOJ Secretary Menardo Guevarra, said these cases will still undergo additional review and case build-up to determine the possible criminal cases that will be filed against police personnel who may be found guilty of violating laws and abuse of authority.

Included for review is the operation wherein suspect Ryan Robosa was killed in Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City last December 2016.

In the incident, the Internal Affairs Service of the PNP found the police personnel involved in the operation guilty of grave irregularity in the performance of duty but were only verbally reprimanded.

In the DOJ’s review, it discovered that there was no detailed report on the allegation that the suspect fought back, which resulted to his death.

It added that the PNP failed to follow procedure like the absence of a pre-operation report, no ballistic or paraffin test results, and there was also no result on the autopsy conducted on the slain suspect.
